Are the phones that distracting?

I’ve done a few phone shops over the past couple of weeks and every time I do this I become more convinced that over 80% of employees view the phone as a distraction instead of an opportunity. Many times the initial greetings are spoken too quickly and most are not professional. No time is taken to ask a few questions to uncover a need. I’ve even been transferred to voice mail several times when asking about a product. Don’t take my word for it, call around. Understand that this is your competition. Or worse maybe it’s you. What ever the case may be, try taking your time on the phones and view the phone as a reason why you have a job as well as an opportunity to make a difference.
