We ran across a great article yesterday titled “Are Your Friends at Work Holding You Back?”. Take a couple of minutes to read it. It’s all about your internal network. We talk quite a bit about networking and building advocates but if you’re not developing a strong internal network and internal advocates then you’re performing at no more than 50% effectiveness. If you’re a leader or manager, these same friends that may be holding you back are also holding the organization back because of your relationship. We’ve all seen the person who is protected or excused for lack of performance because of their friendship or relationship with the boss. Don’t be that boss!
